About
Jessica is completing her dissertation while adjuncting and working full time at a Penobscot Bay Press as Special Sections Editor, web content coordinator and reporter.
Her research agenda comprises two divergent, though related, arenas of new media studies. First is her research in new media theory, featuring the development of feminist perspectives on new media, transnational feminist coalitions and also the pedagogical implications of new media.
Secondly, her dissertation explores communication practices that constitute identity in relation to technology use and place.The discourses surrounding connective or boundary-permeating technology evidence complex negotiations of community boundaries and identity.
Her teaching interests include gender and technology, media and society, technology and communication, media criticism, feminist theory, new media studies, globalization and communication.
Her personal hobbies and interests include knitting, trail walking, swimming, RPGs and strategy gaming, and gardening.
